The sacred city of Puri in Odisha is gearing up for one of India's most grand and spiritually significant festivals, Jagannath Rath Yatra 2025. Known for its grandeur, devotion, and centuries-old traditions, the Rath Yatra sees Lord Jagannath, along with Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra, set out on a majestic journey from the Jagannath Temple to the Gundicha Temple. The event draws thousands of devotees and pilgrims from across the country and the world every year.
When is Jagannath Rath Yatra 2025?
This year, the Rath Yatra falls on June 27, 2025. As per the Hindu lunar calendar, it is observed on Dwitiya Tithi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Ashadha.

Rituals begin before Yatra
The spiritual preparations begin with Snana Purnima on June 12, when the deities are given a ceremonial bath. Following this, the idols go into Anavasara, from June 13 to June 26, during which they are believed to be resting and recovering.
A day before the yatra, on June 26, the Gundicha Temple is cleaned in a ritual called Gundicha Marjana to welcome the deities.
