As mentioned in the earlier article, your health and fitness depend heavily on the weather since your doshas are affected by it. Ayurveda can help by providing good health according to the season. Patanjali works on the Ayurvedic angle to help in this regard.
Seasonal Talk
Ritu Sandhi means the transition between two seasons. Changing the diet suddenly due to the season change is not good. The body faces an imbalance, resulting in ailments. The three main seasons are divided into Vasanta (Spring), Grīsma (Summer), Varsha (Monsoon), Śarad (Autumn), Hemanta (Early Winter) and Śisira (Late Winter). This article looks at the last two – Varsa and Sarad.
Varsa (Monsoon Season)
The rainy season has greenery and humidity in the environment, and cloudy weather. It results in the rise of insects and unsanitary surroundings. The humidity mars your Vata Dosha and digestion. If no rain appears for a few days, the heat intensifies the Pitta Dosha. Low food nutrition values make you susceptible to illnesses like Malaria and digestive troubles. Choose light, fresh, hot and easily digestible food that boosts digestive fire. It includes rock and black salt, carom seeds, old grains like wheat and unpolished rice, vegetables like okra and cucumber, fruits like apples, mangoes and pomegranates, etc. If suffering from Vata and Kapha Doshas, opt for bitter, sour and salty food items. Other good habits include eating when hungry. Heavy and frequent eating can be harmful. Choose the Patanjali Giloy Amla Juice (500 Ml). It has the powers of giloy and amla to keep you healthy in the harshest monsoons.
Śarad (Autumn Season)
What you see in this season are clear clouds, beautiful sky and strong, effective, clean and pleasant moon rays. The moon and sun rays purify the water bodies. You notice a sour taste in vegetation and medicinal herbs. Since it comes right after the monsoon, there is full sunshine with the damages of the Pitta Dosha dormant during the monsoons. It results in health issues like fever, pimples, rashes and other blood disorders. Your physical strength is just about good. You can opt for Pitta Dosha food with a bitter taste. It is light and cooling and can be digested easily. Choose dairy items like ghee and Shrikhand, grains like wheat and barley, veggies like bottle gourd and radish, beans like soybeans and fruits like pomegranates. Using laxative medicines and blood-letting therapies can pacify Pitta and blood issues. Avoid oily food and mustard oil, dairy products like buttermilk and yoghurt, spices like Hing, and black pepper, veggies like brinjal and bitter gourd, any dish of black gram pulses, alkaline products, etc. Avoid eating when not hungry. Try Patanjali Cow's Ghee (200 Ml, 500 Ml, 1 Ltr and 5 Ltr). It is a healthy source of fat and provides you with all your health needs.
Follow the seasonal changes thoroughly with the help of Ayurveda and Patanjali.
