Walking into Two Gud Sisters, the newest addition to Santacruz’s vibrant food scene, feels like stepping into a cosy haven where good food, heartfelt stories, and culinary creativity come together. Founded by Rinka Jha and Rashmi Mishra, this modern all-day café and bar isn’t just a business venture—it’s a dream turned into reality. The duo, who share a sisterly bond born from a long-standing friendship, joined hands with MasterChef Abhinas Nayak to create a space that celebrates food, family, and innovative flavours.

"We’ve always shared a love for food and drinks, along with the dream of creating a space where people could gather and feel at home," says Rashmi Mishra, Co-founder of Two Gud Sisters. "This café is the realisation of that dream. We’ve poured our hearts into every detail, from the menu to the ambiance."

And the result? A space that transitions effortlessly from a sunlit brunch spot to a romantic evening feel and finally into a lively bar buzzing with cocktails and conversations. Earthy tones, chic European influences, and Mumbai’s heritage-inspired decor create an inviting atmosphere where each corner has a story to tell. I must say, the ambience will make you click countless pictures for your social media!

We had the chance to share our stories at a corner spot while savouring some of the delectable dishes, and here's how it went!

The culinary adventure begins

Chef Abhinas Nayak leads the kitchen at Two Gud Sisters, where the menu hits a delightful balance between comfort and creativity. Our culinary journey began with the Puchka Pop, a playful twist on the beloved street food. The crispy puchka shells were filled with water chestnuts, moong beans, and mixed vegetables, accompanied by tangy, sweet, and spicy water. The street-styled dish was both fun and flavourful, but the tamarind water truly stole the show. Its sour and tangy flavour left a tantalising zing on our palates, with veggies and puchka giving a refreshing, crispy twist.

Next, we indulged in the Burrata Burst, a creamy delight filled with basil pesto paired with mixed greens and tomato pesto. The burrata was undeniably fresh, its mild flavour beautifully enhanced by a peanut sauce that was thick and slightly grainy. The texture contrast between the velvety cheese and the crunchy nuts made this dish comforting and refreshing.

The baos and momos of dreams

The Wow Bao was our next stop—and it truly lived up to its name. This bao featured a mutton filling, slow-cooked in a rich Bihari-style gravy, topped with a crispy salad and garlic yoghurt sauce. The bao itself was pillowy soft, while the filling offered a hearty, home-style taste with a warming spice kick.

The Jhol Momos brought a piece of Nepal to our plates. Traditionally served in a thin, watery broth, these momos were instead served in a thick, creamy gravy made from soybeans, peanuts, sesame, and chilli. The chicken filling was juicy, with aromatic hints of garlic and onion, while the jhol had a mellow heat that lingered gently without overpowering the palate. It was a comforting and satisfying dish with a contemporary twist.

Soul-filling meals

Get ready to get your hands messy, as we surely did with the Mangalorean Ghassi featuring coconut and chicken. The subtly spiced coconut curry was paired with tender chicken and fragrant coconut rice. The gravy, rich with coconut milk and cooked in coconut oil, offered a comforting, mildly sweet flavour, complemented by the texture of shredded coconut. The chicken, though similar to regular tandoori, was well-cooked and juicy. Overall, this dish was comforting and fulfilling.

Sip, savour, repeat

Two Gud Sisters doesn’t just excel with food—their drink menu is equally impressive. We tried two signature mocktails: Trip to Bahamas and Blue Baby.

First, the Trip to Bahamas is a tropical escape in a glass, featuring mango, coconut cream, pineapple juice, and a cherry garnish. The drink had a smooth, milkshake-like consistency with a refreshing, fruity punch.

Next, the Blue Baby is a sweet-and-sour concoction of blue curaçao, coconut, pineapple juice, and lime. The balance of tangy citrus with creamy coconut made it the perfect palate cleanser.

Dessert dreams (for next time!)

We skipped dessert this time but were tempted by the options on the menu, especially the Tiramisu, Mille-Feuille, and Very Berry Cake, which you must explore.
