In a recent controversy that's raising eyebrows in the fashion scene, local jewellery brand THE ROVER by independent designer Shruti Kumar has accused retail giant Westside of allegedly copying their signature "Vishwa" collection. The allegation came to light on April 25 when THE ROVER shared a detailed Instagram post showcasing what they claim to be undeniable proof of plagiarism.
In the social media post, the brand stated, "It has come to our attention that @westsidestores has brazenly plagiarised the entire 'Vishwa' collection created by @therover."
Take a look at the post here:
Along with the post, the designer uploaded a carousel of images and videos that visually compare the original pieces from THE ROVER with the jewellery currently being sold at Westside stores and listed on their website. The similarities, according to the brand, are too precise to be coincidental.
The label further expressed, "As independent designers who run completely bootstrapped businesses, we invest months in concept development, sampling, and execution. We take great pride in creating beautiful pieces and for a retail giant to so carelessly steal our work, assuming no one would notice, is unacceptable. We demand the immediate removal of these designs from Westside stores and their website."

She wrote, "@westside this is unacceptable. Please ensure @therover is given due credit and compensation. Remove all her designs from your stores and online presence."
As of now, Westside has not released any official response regarding the allegations.
