World Environment Day: 12,000+ Saplings Transform Police & Public Spaces In MP's Dhar |
Dhar (Madhya Pradesh): A remarkable environmental transformation has taken place in Dhar district over the past two years, with more than 12,000 saplings planted across multiple locations under various green initiatives.
Leading the charge, SP Manoj Kumar Singh oversaw the plantation of over 4,000 saplings within Police Line premises. The crown jewel of this effort is "Moti Van," a dedicated garden created under the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign near Sheetla Mata Mandir.
This family-friendly space consists of 500 diverse plants including mango, guava, jamun, sheesham, neem and gulmohar trees, complemented by lighting, fountains, walking paths and seating areas.
Behind the Police Line office, an additional 4,000-plant plantation thrives with wire fencing protection and drip irrigation. The Bhu Mai Welfare Foundation, Dhar "Aao Bachaye Dhara," partnering with police staff, maintains these plants through weekly volunteer efforts.
Over the period of two years, the plantation grew so successfully that reserve inspector Purushottam Bishnoi now brings school children for educational nature walks.
The Forest Division expanded efforts further by planting 8,000 plants across 56 hectares under the Nagar Van Udyan project on Jamun Jatti hill. The development even includes footpaths, nature trails, an interpretation centre, swings, and yoga spaces for public use.
Even the health department contributed 400 saplings on challenging hillside terrain. Highlighting the cooperation of employees, District Clerks Union secretary OP Soni said that 26 teak and 30 mango saplings alongside medicinal plants were planted without government assistance.
