West Discom Holds Emergency Rehearsal To Deal With Monsoon

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Under fire for power outages during showers, Madhya Pradesh West Zone Electricity Distribution Company conducted a large-scale emergency rehearsal, especially to deal with monsoon, in the city on Thursday evening.

The exercise focused on assessing the preparedness of electricity personnel in responding quickly to power disruptions caused by inclement weather.

As part of ongoing efforts to enhance electricity supply and services in the city, the company has increased the number of service vehicles and deployed additional personnel. New systems have also been implemented to ensure faster consumer service delivery and swift repair operations.

The rehearsal, organised under the East City Division, aimed to test the efficiency of mobilising field staff within a tight timeframe. According to city superintending engineer Dilip Kumar Gathe, the goal was to normalise electricity supply as quickly as possible in case of outages.

Employees were required to report to designated emergency points from various parts of the city or their homes within 30 to 40 minutes and be fully prepared to handle power restoration tasks.

"The exercise was a success, with a large number of personnel reaching their assigned locations in record time," said Gathe. "It demonstrated our readiness to handle emergency situations and minimize inconvenience to the public," he added.
