Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The city’s traffic police have launched an intensive awareness campaign to make Indore’s traffic system safer, smoother, and more efficient. Guided by police commissioner Santosh Kumar Singh and additional police commissioner Manoj Kumar Srivastava, the campaign started on March 27 and ran through April 30.

It focuses on educating citizens about traffic rules while ensuring strict enforcement. During the campaign, traffic police officers patrolled key intersections and issued daily directives to their staff to manage traffic effectively.

A total of 16,968 challans were issued for various violations, including 4,552 for improper or stylish number plates, 201 for modified silencers, 48 for unauthorised hooters, 1,103 for driving against traffic, 573 for carrying three passengers, 2,027 for jumping red lights, 852 for using black films, 8 for unauthorised emergency lights and 7,543 for other violations.

As part of the campaign, traffic officers also made announcements at intersections, urging drivers to follow traffic rules.

Several responsible drivers were recognised with flowers and chocolates for complying with the rules, and many praised the initiative.

The awareness campaign has led to a noticeable increase in the adherence to traffic regulations, with several drivers now following the rules more responsibly.
