Indore (Madhya Pradesh): In a boost to infrastructure and civic amenities, urban development and housing minister Kailash Vijayvargiya on Saturday inaugurated and laid foundation stones for development projects worth over Rs 6 crore in Ward 4 of Indore-I assembly constituency.
The minister also dedicated open gym equipment and children’s play facilities worth Rs 2.5 crore for parks across the constituency.
He announced the installation of open gym sets with seven types of exercise machines, along with swings, slides, and merry-go-rounds in parks across the area. A local maintenance committee of 10 residents will be formed for each park to ensure regular upkeep.
Stating that a child’s best friend these days has become mobile phone, Vijayvargiya called upon children to distance themselves from this friend and start their day with exercise, which will keep them energetic throughout the day.
Vijayvargiya said that earlier, out of 100 children, only 5 needed spectacles, but now 30 out of 100 children wear glasses. “Children are becoming addicted to mobile phones. I urge mothers to keep their children away from fast food. Feed them nutritious home-cooked food so that their physical and mental development can be better. Fast food made from refined flour is harming children’s health,” he said.
He also stated that nowadays, the word "exercise" has disappeared from children's lives.
He said children should be sent to gardens, where they can exercise and also expand their social circles. They will make good friends who will always be there for them in happiness and sorrow.
A total of 21 projects were launched, which included beautification of Patel Nagar garden (Rs 28.43 lakh), road construction from Akhand Nagar Square to Amar Kunj Mata Mandir (Rs 86.36 lakh), public toilet near Vidyadham Temple (Rs 43.20 lakh), open gym and playground equipment in all area parks (Rs 2.5 crore) and drainage, cementing of roads and park renovations in Krishna Bagh, Venkatesh Nagar, Panchvati Nagar, Akhand Nagar and other localities
In total, development work spanning roads, gardens, public utilities, and sanitation has been initiated with a combined value exceeding Rs 6 crore.
Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav, BJP city chief Sumit Mishra and former MLA Akash Vijayvargiya were among the key figures present in the programme.
