Nine Family Members Fall Ill After Eating Laddoos in Madhya Pradesh’s Garoth

Garoth (Madhya Pradesh): Nine members of a family suffered food poisoning after eating laddoos made from mawa on the occasion of Rakshabandhan, on Saturday in Akya Kunwarpada village of Garoth tehsil.

They were admitted to the Indira Gandhi Government Hospital in Garoth on Saturday evening, where they were treated by Dr Kishore Singh Parihar. All have now recovered and were discharged on Sunday morning.

Dr Parihar said that Food Safety Officer Dhirendra Singh Jadoun collected samples of the laddoos for testing.

According to reports, the Bairagi family had bought one kilogram of mawa from milk vendor Raju Rathore of Satkheda village. After eating the sweets at around 11 am on Saturday, family members began experiencing vomiting and diarrhoea.

The affected members include Ishwar Lal (55), Kari Bai (50), Shanti Bai (50), Kalulal (35), Shalu (28), Shyamu Bai (95), Pooja (28), Guddi Bai (50) and Jeevan (25). The symptoms spread quickly among them.

This is not the first such incident. Earlier, food poisoning was also reported in Guradia Nursing village during a wedding after consuming mawa bought from the same vendor.

The incident has raised serious concerns about food safety, with locals demanding strict checks on items like mawa, sweets and milk products to prevent health risks.
