Dr Shah, speaking after his election, highlighted ISMC’s ongoing efforts in the field of mental disability over the past 30 years. He spoke of the organisation’s flagship project, Sandipani, an ambitious initiative to create a residential complex for mentally challenged individuals. “It aims to provide a lifelong home for children after their parents are gone,” he said, calling it a response to the critical question many parents face: What after us?
Currently, ISMC supports 65 day-scholars and 15 hostel residents. As per the society’s constitution, all office-bearers are parents of mentally challenged children and are deeply committed to their development and welfare. Their shared experience brings empathy, dedication and personal resolve to every initiative.
