Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): As the search operation for Indore’s Sonam Rahuwanshi in Meghalaya’s Shillong, Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav has requested Home Minister Amit Shah to order a CBI probe into the matter.
CM Yadav took to his official X handle and wrote, “In this hour of crisis, Madhya Pradesh stands with the family of Sonam Raghuvanshi. I have discussed the matter with the Chief Minister of Meghalaya.”
“Senior police officials from Madhya Pradesh are in constant contact with the authorities in Meghalaya. I have requested Hon'ble Union Home Minister Amit Shah ji to order a CBI probe into the case. Every possible effort is being made to ensure the safe return of Sonam Raghuvanshi,” the CM added.

On Saturday morning, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan also spoke to Sonam’s brother Govind in Meghalaya and assured him of every possible help in finding her.
Sonam Raghuvanshi (25) went missing along with her husband Raja Raghuvanshi (29) on May 23, hours after they checked out of a homestay at Nongriat village in Meghalaya's East Khasi Hills district during their honeymoon.
State congress president Jitu Patwari meets the family, demands CBI probe
Expressing deep agony over the tragic death of Raja Raghuvanshi and the disappearance of his wife Sonam, State Congress President Jitu Patwari met with the grieving Raghuvanshi family in Indore today.
Patwari conveyed his condolences and assured the family of full support in their quest for justice. He also assured that he will meet the CM and urge him for a thorough CBI probe into this matter.
On June 2, Raja's body was found in a deep gorge near a waterfall in Sohra area, some 20 kilometres away from the homestay.
However, the Meghalaya police, which registered a murder case after Raja's body was found, are yet to get any clues about Sonam's whereabouts.
On Friday,Sonam’s family members also urged the Union government to hand over the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), expressing dissatisfaction with the ongoing investigation by the Meghalaya Police.
