Piplia Mandi (Madhya Pradesh): A group of masked thieves created panic across Madhya Pradesh's Piplia Mandi on Saturday night after breaking into multiple homes and a warehouse.
The incident unfolded in the Shagun Garden and Gayatri Nagar areas, near the local bus stand. The thieves used torches to search for empty homes. Before stealing, they put chains on doors of about 10 houses to trap people inside.
Alert neighbours, who were awakened by suspicious noises, discovered their doors had been locked from outside. CCTV footage captured the thieves searching multiple properties with torches.
According to reports, the masked gang broke into Ramesh Maheshwari's empty house and Sunil Ghatia's warehouse. They tried entering jeweler Mukesh Soni's house but failed due to his alertness.
Whereas, in Gayatri Nagar, thieves managed to steal gold and silver jewellery worth 30,000 and 5,000 in cash from a safe at the house of Prabhat Khare, whose family was away. Another house nearby was also targeted, but nothing was stolen.
In a separate incident, two buffaloes were stolen from Ramesh Kharol's enclosure in Chillod Pipaliya village. He discovered them missing Saturday morning after tying them up the night before.
Police are studying CCTV footage to identify the thieves. They promise arrests soon using technical evidence. Worried residents want more night patrols and better security measures.
