Mandsaur (Madhya Pradesh): A remarkable story of determination unfolded at Mandsaur district hospital when a blind man named Narendra travelled 600 kilometres to help his visually-impaired lady friend Sanju Khan secure a government job.

Sanju Khan, from Pachera village in Bhind district, was blind since childhood but never let her disability dampen her spirits.

Currently in her final year of Bachelor of Arts studies in Jabalpur using Braille, Sanju is the youngest of four siblings and has shown tremendous willpower in pursuing her education despite challenges.

The inspiring journey began when Narendra, who runs a social organisation for disabled people in Bhind, learned about Sanju's situation. Despite being completely blind himself, Narendra personally accompanied Sanju to Mandsaur district, helping her obtain a disability certificate at the district hospital.

Their visit coincided with a recent court order directing government departments to provide direct appointments to differently-abled individuals in certain positions. This created an opportunity for Sanju to secure employment as an office assistant at Bhanpura Municipal Council.

Dr Himanshu Yajurvedi, who shared the story, called Sanju an ‘inspiring personality.’ The hospital staff was deeply moved by the duo's determination and resilience. Though unable to see, both friends radiated happiness that everyone present could feel.

Civil Surgeon Dr DK Sharma described being part of their journey as ‘God's grace’ and a powerful example for others. The entire medical staff welcomed Sanju with applause, offering encouragement and support for her new beginning.

Sanju and Narendra expressed gratitude towards Dr Sharma, Dr Yajurvedi and the entire hospital staff for their warm reception and assistance.
