Indore (Madhya Pradesh): After a respite from continuous rain, over the past three days, no heavy rain alert issued across the state on Saturday as well. However, a spell of heavy rain is likely to return on August 3 and 4, specifically the northern part of the state.

According to the Meteorological Department, there are active cyclonic circulation and turf over the state. These systems are likely to intensify within the next 24 hours, bringing heavy rainfall in several districts including, Gwalior, Chambal and Sagar.

On Friday, several part of the state, including Gwalior, Guna, Sheopur, Damoh, Mandla and Umaria received light rainfall.

However, intense monsoon had earlier resulted in flood like situation in the eastern parts of the state, especially in Jabalpur, Rewa, Shahdol, and Sagar divisions. Although, rain stopped for two days, but Narmada river is in still in spate, dams are overflowing prompting authorities to open their gates.

According to the rainfall data, districts including, Gwalior, Rajgarh, Shivpuri, Guna, Ashoknagar, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh, Niwari, Morena and Sheopur have already surpassed their rainfall quota and has received 50 percent more rainfall than the average rainfall quota.

Tikamgarh-Niwari has received the maximum rainfall, meanwhile, Indore has received the least rainfall. Bhopal and Jabalpur have received half the rainfall of the season.

Since the onset of the monsoon from 16th June, Madhya Pradesh received an average of 28 inches of rain exceeding the expected 17.6 inches in this brief time by 10 inches. The normal amount that the state receives is 37 inches.
