Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh): Two girl students, including one who failed in MPBSE’s class 10 examinations, ended their lives in separate incidents during the past 24 hours.
Priyanka (16) daughter of Mohanlal resident of Karondiya, Shankarpur committed suicide by jumping into a well on Tuesday afternoon. Her brother Roshan said that she had failed to clear the exam twice and jumped into a 50-foot deep well, probably out of frustration. Komal, her younger sister, saw Priyanka jumping into the well and informed the family.
Roshan said villagers tried to take Priyanka out of the well but failed. It took police divers five hours to bring out the body. Roshan said their father is a farmer, and they are 3 brothers and 6 sisters.
In another case, 23-year-old Nikita daughter of Saudan Singh of Saraswati Nagar, a final year student in Sanwer Government College, consumed poison on Tuesday afternoon when everyone else was sleeping.
Her father admitted her to Government Charak Hospital where she died at 8 pm. The family was planning to go to a wedding in the neighbourhood later in the evening. Chimanganj Mandi police are looking into the matter.
