Indore (Madhya Pradesh): MY Hospital Indore, affiliated with MGM Medical College, has saved the lives of five critically injured Kanwariyas through 15 surgeries and 26 implants after a tragic accident on July 30 near Sorel on Ujjain Road.
A six-wheeled truck hit seven pilgrims walking toward Ujjain, killing one on the spot and injuring six others aged between 18 and 32.
All injured were admitted to MY Hospital in serious condition, suffering from multiple fractures, internal injuries, and unrecordable blood pressure.
Among them, Jitendra (18) had arm and collarbone fractures; Shubham (26), Yash (25), and Vikas (27) had spinal and leg fractures. Durgesh (32) was brought unconscious with severe blood loss, fractured ribs, and blood-filled lungs, but is now recovering well. Dhruv (22) had head trauma and lung injuries, with his condition improving post-surgery.
Dr Arvind Ghanghoria, dean of MGM Medical College, said immediate ICU care, blood transfusions and surgical interventions were crucial. One patient underwent femoral artery repair by the vascular unit led by Dr Arvind Shukla. Orthopaedic surgeries were overseen by Dr Kundan Kushwaha, HoD Orthopaedics.
Dr Ghanghoria praised MY Hospital’s preparedness for mass casualty emergencies, highlighting the availability of expert teams under one roof. The hospital runs several welfare schemes like the, Deendayal Yojana and is a leader in bone marrow transplant and organ donation.
