Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A 22-year-old youth from Indore drowned in a pond near the revered Roshiya Baba’s Dargah, located in the picturesque Choral forest area of Mhow tehsil, on Sunday afternoon.

According to Simrol police station in-charge Amit Kumar, the deceased was identified as Mohsin Khan, son of Rehmat Khan, a resident of Jalla Colony in Indore. Mohsin had set out earlier in the day with five of his friends on a trip to the dargah, a popular local shrine that attracts devotees from nearby regions. The group intended to offer prayers and spend some leisure time in the serene forest surroundings.

Before entering the shrine premises, they decided to take a dip in a nearby pond, a common practice among visitors. Witnesses said he suddenly lost his footing on the Narmada pipeline, slipped into the deep water and began struggling to stay afloat.

His friends and other visitors shouted for help, but due to the depth of the pond, they were unable to rescue him in time. Emergency services were immediately alerted. Police and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams rushed to the spot. Divers from the SDRF conducted a search operation, and after some time, Mohsin’s body was recovered from the pond.

Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding the incident and have sent the body for autopsy examination. Officials have urged the public to exercise caution near water bodies, particularly in forested areas, to prevent such tragedies.

Death of two kids by drowning, third child returns home but keeps mum

Two boys, aged seven and eight, had drowned in a private swimming pool at a farmhouse under Gandhi Nagar police station limits on Saturday. Shockingly, a third child, of the same age, who was with them at the time returned home after the incident but did not inform anyone. The incident only came to light when police circulated photos of the deceased in the locality.

The deceased were identified as Shivam (7), son of Sumla, and Ravi (8), son of Sohan Vaskale, both natives of Barwani district and currently residing in Samarth Vatika Colony.

The boys reportedly entered the farmhouse premises by jumping over the boundary wall to bathe in the swimming pool. They drowned while swimming. The security guard discovered their bodies upon returning to the property after work.

Family members said that three boys from their locality had gone to the farmhouse to swim. One of them returned home and locked himself inside his house. The families only learned of the incident when they saw the photos shared by the police.
