Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A woman was booked for abetting suicide of head constable Vinod Yadav on Thursday, on Thursday.

Notably, Vinod was found hanging at his government residence in MIG area on May 22.

Additional DCP (zone-2) Amrendra Singh informed Free Press head constable Yadav was posted at Pardeshipura police station and he was in contact with a woman named Sanju Rana.

The duo developed friendship. Soon, she started blackmailing him. After the statements of Yadav’s family members and the investigation, the police booked her under the relevant section of the BNS.    

Police said that Sanju threatened to implicate him in a false case. Not only that, she was pressuring him to transfer the ownership of one of his properties to her name. Distressed by these issues, Vinod took such an extreme step. Sources claimed that even shortly before Vinod’s suicide, Sanju had made a phone call to him.

Upon checking Vinod’s bank account, it was found that most of the funds were being transferred into Sanju’s account. After the Head Constable’s death, the police learned about Sanju and detained her on the night of May 22 based on suspicion.

She was also kept at the police station the following day, but due to Vinod’s family being out of Indore and lack of concrete evidence at the time, Sanju was released after recording her statement.

Singh said that Sanju lives in the Kanadiya area of the city but she could not be arrested till the filing of the report.
