Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav, on Wednesday, announced that a ‘Bharat Van’ will be developed over 36 acres of open land in the heart of the city and will be a 100% greenery-based zone.
The announcement came after the mayor visited the proposed site of ‘Bharat Van’ along with senior citizens, environmentalists, municipal officers, and public representatives.
Regarding the major step, Mayor Bhargav said, “We had a vision to create a forest in the center of the city that would act as the lungs of Indore while providing a clean and healthy environment. Today, we inspected the site and gathered feedback. Everyone agreed that the area should be turned entirely into a green zone. A large pond will also be constructed here.”
Flora and fauna to enrich Bharat Van
The Bharat Van will showcase the biodiversity, flora, and fauna from various states of India. Special care will be taken to develop bird habitats in the area. The project is expected to not only improve the environment but also help raise the groundwater level.
Calling it a valuable gift for the people of Indore, the Mayor said that Bharat Van will become a peaceful breathing space and a major natural attraction for citizens in the coming years.
