Indore: Strict Guidelines Issued For School Buses; Non-Compliance Will Lead To Strict Penalties | Representative image
Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The Regional Transport Office (RTO) has issued fresh guidelines for the safe and legal operation of school buses in the district.
A key directive mandates schools to submit details of both operational and non-operational buses. All buses must have valid fitness certificates, insurance, permits and follow safety protocols including CCTV cameras, speed governors and fire extinguishers.
An important meeting led by RTO Pradeep Sharma was held at the Residency on Friday with school principals and administrators. Additional DCP (Traffic) Santosh Kaul and ARTO Archana Mishra were also present.

They highlighted that buses without valid documents or safety installations would face immediate action. Schools were provided formats to submit detailed bus compliance information, including safety devices and driver credentials.

Schools were urged to adopt breathalyzer machines for alcohol checks, as already done by some institutions. The RTO emphasised following 30+ safety norms, such as yellow-coloured buses, GPS
tracking, emergency exits, trained drivers and on-duty attendants. Schools were reminded to monitor via CCTV and GPS in real-time and ensure no student sat near the driver’s cabin.
