Indore: Nursing College Puts Admissions On Hold After ‘Hindi’ Suddenly Becomes Compulsory; Students Protest
The affected students of 2025-26 session had cleared the Pre-Nursing Selection Test (PNST) and were allotted government colleges through counselling.

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Students have been protesting at the Government Nursing College after their admissions were put on hold. The issue arose due to a new rule making Hindi compulsory till class 12 for admission in the nursing course, causing difficulties for many students, particularly those from CBSE schools where Hindi is not taught after Class 10.
The affected students of 2025-26 session had cleared the Pre-Nursing Selection Test (PNST) and were allotted government colleges through counselling. However, they were informed upon arrival that admissions were delayed due to the rule change.

Despite having paid their fees, they remain unable to start classes. The agitating students said that the rule, introduced after the application process, is unfair. “The new requirement be implemented from the next academic session instead. Many students from MP Board are also affected. The Directorate of Medical Education (DME) and Madhya Pradesh Nurses Registration Council (MPNRC) have made the sudden change,” the students said.
Meanwhile, the college authorities said that the decision was made at higher levels in Bhopal, leaving them powerless to resolve the situation. The students said that they are visiting the college daily but are left in uncertainty. Many, who travelled from outside Indore, fear their academic year and future careers are at risk. Principal of Government Nursing College Angoori Singh refused to comment on the same excusing her being busy in a meeting.
