Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Under Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan, Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) is taking concrete steps to conserve and beautify the city’s water bodies. As part of this, a special community service (shramdaan) was organised on Sunday at Nipania Lake.
During the event, a major announcement was made regarding the demarcation of boundaries of ponds and lakes, and tree plantations along their banks.
Municipal commissioner Shivam Verma led the programme and administered a pledge to the citizens for active participation in water conservation. He emphasised the need to legally mark the limits of lakes and ponds to prevent future encroachments and ensure long-term protection of these natural assets.
Highlighting the green vision of the campaign, Verma also announced that tree plantation drives will be carried out along the banks of the lakes and ponds. This step aims to create green buffer zones that will enhance the ecological health of the areas, improve water retention, and support biodiversity.

Verma informed citizens about tenders released for the restoration and beautification of Nipania Lake, including plans for rainwater harvesting, lighting, seating areas, pathways, and the redevelopment of the nearby Muktidham.
IMC has appealed to residents to support this people-centric movement and join hands in the protection, cleanliness, and revival of water sources. The Jal-Ganga campaign is fast shaping into a public-driven initiative.
