Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Taking a proactive step toward water conservation, Indore Municipal Corporation on Sunday organised the “Save Water Cyclothon” as part of the state-wide Jal Ganga Conservation Campaign.
Over 800 cyclists participated in the event, which was flagged off jointly by mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav and Rau MLA Madhu Verma at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Regional Park.
The campaign aimed at raising awareness about water conservation and promoting rainwater harvesting across the state.
Water works incharge Abhishek Sharma 'Bablu' said that the initiative is part of ongoing efforts by IMC to encourage citizens to adopt rainwater harvesting practices and ensure long-term water security for the city.
Addressing the gathering, Bhargav emphasised Indore’s leadership in cleanliness and now in water conservation:
“Indore never lags behind in any mission. Just as our city has become a national leader in cleanliness, we are committed to making Indore a model city in water conservation. We have worked to clean and restore wells and stepwells to ensure sustainable water availability for the future,” he said.
He also administered an oath to citizens to commit themselves to rainwater conservation, calling it not just an immediate need but the foundation for future water security.
