Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to virtually flag off the Indore Metro on May 20. However, no official confirmation has been made by the metro authority or the government so far.
Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya told Free Press that a proposal has been sent to the the PM Office, however no confirmation has been received. "We hope PM Modi flags off the metro next week. A proposal was sent, a team also visited Indore to inspect the site, however we are still waiting for the confirmation."
Whereas, the Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation has accelerated preparations to launch the metro services on the Priority Corridor.
What will the fare be?
The metro fare has been divided into 5 zones, covering a total of 28 stations across Indore.
The minimum fare is ₹20
The maximum fare is ₹80
For the initial Priority Corridor, the fare will range from ₹20 to ₹30.
Trips from 8 am to 8 pm
According to the Metro Rail Corporation, the Indore Metro will operate on the Priority Corridor between Gandhi Nagar Station and Station Number 3 on the Super Corridor.
During the initial phase, metro trains will make 25 trips in both directions, totaling 50 trips a day. The metro will start running from both the ends, i.e. Gandhi Nagar and Station No. 3, simultaneously at 8 am. The last trip will be at 8 pm.
During the commercial run, a metro coach set will operate every 30 minutes. This frequency may be increased or decreased based on the number of passengers.
5 stations in Priority Corridor
The Priority Corridor is part of the Yellow Line, which spans 5.9 kilometers and includes 5 stations. During the commercial run, the metro is expected to reach each station in just 2 to 5 minutes.
Currently, the system is undergoing day and night testing between the metro depot and beyond Station No. 3.
With this launch, Indore is set to become the latest Indian city to offer modern metro transport.
