Indore: Barwani Man Held With 8 Firearms, Probe Underway | FPJ
Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The city crime branch arrested a man from Barwani with eight country made pistols and live cartridges here on Saturday. He is being questioned about his accomplices involved in the crime.
DCP (crime) Rajesh Kumar Tripathi informed the media persons that a crime branch team was constituted to keep an eye on people supplying or carrying firearms in the city illegally.
The team received a tip-off about a person carrying illegal firearms in the city and arrested him from Rau-Rajendra Nagar Road in front of a petrol pump. Eight countrymade pistols with magazines and two live cartridges were recovered from him.
The accused could not show any document or the license to carry the firearms so he was arrested and booked under relevant sections of Arms Act.
Further investigation into the case is ongoing. The bike of the accused was also seized by the crime branch.
The accused, identified as Ashok, a resident of Barwani, allegedly informed the police that he worked in the Barwani district but wanted to earn more money in less time so he came to the city to supply the firearms to someone.
He didn’t reveal the name of the consigner or consignee. The police are questioning him to know the names of others involved in the case.
