Historic ceremony echoes with chants, music and presence of over a lakh devotees

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A wave of devotion swept across Sumatidham, Gandhinagar on Akshaya Tritiya, as Acharya Vishuddha Sagar Maharaj was ceremoniously anointed with the revered title of Pattacharya amidst a spiritually charged atmosphere.
As twelve Acharyas held his hands and seated him on the Pattacharya throne, the air reverberated with the sound of conch shells, nagadas, bells, drums and the thunderous applause of lakhs of devotees.
The coronation began with a sacred Mangalyatra, for which followers began gathering at 5 am. By 7 am, under the guidance of Acharyas and Upadhyayas from the southern direction, Vedic chants and rituals commenced.
Eight Ashtakumaris sanctified the grounds, while devotees Manish and Sapna Godha purified the throne using holy water and sandalwood brought from sacred rivers. Vishuddha Sagar Ji was then enthroned as Pattacharya, with the congregation offering their approval and blessings.

A divine moment unfolded as the Godha family performed Pad Prakshalan (foot cleansing) using gold and silver kalash water, applying it to their foreheads with reverence. Over a lakh devotees witnessed the event, with thousands more watching live broadcasts from LED screens across the campus.
The elevation of Acharya Vishuddha Sagar Ji fulfills the prophecy and final wishes of his guru, the late Ganacharya Virag Sagar Ji, who had recorded a message before his samadhi, appointing him as the leader of their vast Jain Sangh.
Under the guidance of Dharmacharya Chandrakant Indi and Nitin Jhanjhari, the day began with chants, abhishek and a 36-step ceremonial process that included throne purification and deepak establishment. The evening will feature aarti, a grand laser and drone show and a dramatic performance on Emperor Kharavela.
The historic event not only celebrates leadership in the Jain tradition but also reaffirms the community’s unity and spiritual legacy.
