Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Amid tensions between India and Pakistan, IndiGo Airlines is going to resume bookings for flights from Indore to Jodhpur, Chandigarh and Jammu from May 15.
Notably, flights from airports near the border were suspended due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan, which affected the bookings from Indore airport as well.
Now, flights are available from May 15, and ticket prices currently start at ₹4,000. On normal days, these tickets used to cost between ₹6,000 and ₹7,000.
The Airports Authority of India has also announced that the previously closed airports near the border are now open again for civil flights.
Passengers hesitant to travel at present
According to travel agents in Indore, many tourists use flights to Jodhpur, Chandigarh, and Jammu as connecting routes to reach other destinations. Because demand is still low, ticket prices are expected to remain affordable for now.
After India launched airstrikes on nine terror camps in Pakistan, all passenger flights from airports in Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Gujarat were suspended as a security measure.
However, even though bookings from Indore to Jodhpur, Jammu, and Chandigarh have resumed, travel agents say that passengers are still hesitant to buy tickets. Because of this uncertainty, ticket prices remain very low. If the conflict continues, there is a possibility that flights after May 15 may also be cancelled.
