JANUARY – Start the year with the Lokrang Festival in Bhopal to enjoy tribal music, dance, and art. January’s pleasant weather makes it a great time to explore the Sanchi Stupa — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — and discover the ancient rock paintings at Bhimbetka.

FEBRUARY – Around Mahashivratri, visit the sacred Jyotirlingas — Omkareshwar & Mahakaleshwar — and the Kal Bhairav Temple in Ujjain. Don’t miss the Khajuraho Dance Festival and enjoy stunning dance performances set against beautiful temples like Chitragupta and Vishvanatha.

MARCH – Holi in MP is pure joy! Play with colours in the streets and enjoy the festive vibe. A few days before Holi, visit the Bhagoria Festival in Jhabua, where tribal communities celebrate in their own unique way.

Four days after Holi is Rang Panchami-- when Indore sways in colours to celebrate the famous Gair festival.

Take a trip to Rewa and explore Venkat Bhawan and the Bhairavnath statue. Visit the royal Datia Palace — a stunning place full of history.

APRIL – Spring is perfect for a visit to Chanderi, known for its beautifully crafted temples and handwoven sarees. It’s a good time to visit Alirajpur and explore the local art and craft. You can also visit the beautiful Pashupatinath Temple in Mandsaur for a peaceful spiritual break.

MAY – It starts getting really hot in May, so indoor fun is the way to go. Visit snow zones and gaming areas at malls in Bhopal & Indore, chill at cafes, or take a break at a poolside resort with friends and family. Museums are also a great option to dive into the region’s history while staying cool.

JUNE – As the monsoon magic begins, enjoy the Vikramotsav Festival in Ujjain with stories, theatre, and cultural programs. Visit scenic spots like Tawa, Mandai, Shalini Islands, Bhedaghat, and Tilwara Ghat.

JULY – The rain makes everything green and fresh. Travel to Amarkantak, the starting point of the Narmada River. Places like Pachmarhi turn lush and green, perfect for trekking and waterfall hopping.

Don’t miss the Pachmarhi Marathon and explore spots like Bee Falls, Rajat Prapat, and Satpura National Park.

AUGUST – This is a great time for nature trips. Visit scenic destinations like Madai reserve near Bhopal. Explore the hidden Patalkot Valley, stay in Mandu’s heritage resorts. Experience the tranquility at Shivpuri Hills, and enjoy waterfalls like Dhuandhar Falls at Bhedagha in Jabalpur, Sitlamata Falls and Patalpani near Indore, and Bahuti Waterfalls near Rewa.

SEPTEMBER – The monsoon starts to fade, it’s a great time for heritage walks in Bhopal and Indore. Explore colonial buildings, buzzing markets, and local food. Visit the ancient Bhojpur Temple and the rock-cut Udayagiri Caves. A trip to Salkanpur Temple, set on a hill, is also worth it. If you're into lesser-known spots, the Raisen Fort offers a peaceful escape.

OCTOBER – The festival season is here! Visit Pitambara Peeth in Datia and Shree Harsiddhi Mata Temple in Ujjain during Navratri. You must experience Durga Puja, which has been celebrated by the Bengali community for 80+ years in Jabalpur.

You can also enjoy the fun-filled Jal Mahotsav on Hanuwantiya Island this month. The weather is pleasant, so it’s a great time to explore Gwalior Fort, Tansen Tomb, and Moti Mahal.

NOVEMBER – Diwali lights up MP with colorful markets, lamps, and sweets. Celebrate Diwali at the Ram Raja Temple in Orchha, where Lord Rama is worshipped as a king.

Don’t miss the Nimar Utsav in Maheshwar — a beautiful mix of local music, dance, and craft. Orchha, where the Betwa River flows, and Mandu are calm and beautiful at this time of year.

DECEMBER – End the year with music and magic at the Tansen Music Festival in Gwalior, a celebration of classical Indian music. The cool weather makes it ideal for exploring Kanha National Park, Pench National Park, and Bandhavgarh National Park — the jungle safaris in that warm sun with friends and family will give you the most cherished memories.
