Mandsaur (Madhya Pradesh): The Retail Grocery Traders’ Association on Sunday took out a vehicle rally protesting against the tariffs imposed by the US on India.

The rally traversed the main streets of the town and culminated at the Kotwali police station where the businessmen submitted a memorandum addressed to the President. In the memorandum, they called for the promotion of indigenous goods.

Association president Ashok Kamaria said that India was committed to the principle of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ and laid emphasis on the country’s proactive support to the global community.

He condemned the unjust tariffs as a challenge to India’s self-respect and the spirit of self-reliance. He asserted that the association stood firmly with PM Narendra Modi.

Kamaria called for a stronger voice for the country in the international arena and said that the Indian business community and citizens were prepared to make sacrifices to protect their country. He suggested that if the US continued with its aggressive stance, the country should consider halting imports of US goods to bolster domestic products.

The rally raised public awareness about the importance of supporting indigenous goods. Traders in large numbers participated in the rally.
