Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Even as rainy days have arrived, municipal commissioner Shivam Verma has issued a series of firm directives aimed at ensuring clean water supply, preventing waterlogging and improving civic services during the monsoon season.
At a review meeting chaired by Verma and was attended by all additional commissioners, deputy commissioners, superintendent engineers and other key officials emphasis was laid on the importance of proactive governance.
Verma directed officials to take immediate action on several fronts including check supply of dirty water, water-logging, storm water line cleaning and systematic barricading at work sites.
Besides, all zonal officers were instructed to remain active in their respective zones, conduct regular inspections and seek permanent solutions to recurring civic problems. Workshop in-charge Manish Pandey was asked to ensure that all monsoon-related equipment—such as pumps, barricades, and vehicles—are fully operational and available for use at short notice.
Verma’s strong directives signal a clear focus on public safety, health and responsive governance, particularly with the onset of the monsoon season. The civic body is now expected to act promptly and efficiently to address the concerns of the city’s residents.
No Dirty Water Complaints
"It must be ensured that there are absolutely no complaints regarding dirty or contaminated water anywhere in the city," Verma instructed. He asked officials to take technical measures swiftly to prevent issues related to water contamination and sewage overflow.
Prevent Waterlogging
The Commissioner ordered the drainage system to be made foolproof, with special attention given to sensitive or flood-prone areas. “All necessary measures must be taken to avoid waterlogging during the monsoon,” Verma said.
Storm Water Line Cleaning
Cleaning of storm water lines was identified as a top priority. “No drain or chamber should remain blocked. A free-flowing drainage system is essential to prevent flooding and health hazards,” Verma stressed.
Systematic Barricading at Work Sites
Shri Verma directed that all ongoing road and pipeline works must be properly barricaded to avoid accidents. “Safety at work sites is non-negotiable,” Verma said.
