Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A bizarre scene was witnessed at Asirgarh Fort in Madhya Pradesh’s Burhanpur on Friday night. Hundreds of villagers gathered here after watching ‘Chhaava’ and started to dig the site, believing Mughals buried the gold here.

A video of the incident is going viral on social media, showing group of villagers digging out the soil near Asirgarh Fort in search of gold and silver, they believe Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb looted from the Marathas and hid there.

The clips shows hundreds of villagers-- men, women, youths, middle-aged people, elders, at Asirgarh Fort in Burhanpur late night on Friday. They reached the site with full preparation, carrying digging tools, metal detectors and flashlights. The clip further shows them desperately digging the soil, hoping to unearth the hidden golds and silvers.

Notably, Vicky Kaushal starrer Chhaava movie showed Mughals looting the gold and other treasure from the Maratha Empire and hiding them beneath Asirgarh Fort. Hoping it to be true, the villagers carried out a mission to search the Marathas' wealth.

The video is widely being circulated on social media, with netizens finding it 'hopeless', 'desperate' and 'unbelievable'.

According to information, at least 100 holes were dug at Asirgarh Fort. As soon as police received the information, a team of cops reached the spot. Seeing the force, the villagers left their tools and rushed to their homes.
