Indore (Madhya Pradesh): After the deadly terror attack by Pakistani terrorists in Pahalgam, the Indian government has cancelled all visas issued to Pakistani nationals as a sign of protest, police said on Saturday.

According to the sources, 18 Pakistanis on short-term visas have been identified in the city and they would be deported by April 27. It is said that around 229 Pakistani citizens currently in Madhya Pradesh have been told to leave India within 24 hours.

The central government has cancelled SAARC category visas for Pakistani citizens and ordered them to leave India by April 27. Medical visas will stay valid until April 29, while diplomats, official or long-term visas are not affected by this order.

Indian citizens are also being advised not to travel to Pakistan, and those already there should come back.

Additional CP (Law and Order) Amit Singh, following the instruction from Government of India, we are working to find Pakistani nationals and make sure they leave the country on time. We are monitoring their movements and directly contacting them.

Anyone who doesn't leave on time could face legal action. The passport cell of the city is in active mode for the same. Singh didn’t reveal the total number of Pakistani citizens identified in the city.

It is said that the intelligence and police teams across the country are updating their records and quickly informing all Pakistani nationals about the new orders.

This strict decision came after the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, where armed Pakistani terrorists opened fire on unarmed tourists, killing and injuring many.

The attack was widely condemned, and India responded by suspending all visa services for Pakistan and cancelling existing visas to boost national security.
