Mirzapur: An argument broke out between the acting president of Vindhya Panda Samaj, Avneesh Mishra, and Uttar Pradesh police personnel over issuing challans for consuming tobacco in the Maa Vindhyavasini Temple premises. Mishra threatened cops and after they fined priests and other people inside the premises of the temple for violating the rules as per the order issued by the District Magistrate.

The incident was caught on camera, and soon its video started doing rounds on social media. In the video, Mishra could be seen threatening the cops for imposing fine on priests for allegedly consuming tobacco inside the temple.

"Zyaada Garmi dikhayi toh utaar di jayegi garmi (If you show the attitude, it will be removed)," Mishra was heard saying in the video. He even said that no one will give even one rupee of challan. The police personnel replied that it was an order issued by the District Magistrate to issue challans to those people who were caught consuming tobacco inside the temple.

Mishra further said that before imposing fines on priests, authorities should close all the shops selling tobacco near the temple. "Do whatever you want to do," Mishra could be heard saying in the viral video. He told the cops that authorities should first send a letter to the temple management about the DM order regarding the consumption of tobacco by priests on the temple premises.

The Mirzapur police has received a complaint in this matter and lodged an FIR at the Vindhyachal police station under relevant sections. A detailed investigation has been launched into the matter.
