'Your Nose Is So Beautiful...': Bengal Man Bites Off And Swallows Wife's Nose In Nadia; Arrested

In a shocking incident, a man bit off his wife's nose while she was asleep and allegedly swallowed the flesh.

According to reports, the man used to praise his wife for her beautiful nose. The incident reportedly took place in the Berpara area of Ward Number 11 under the jurisdiction of Shantipur Police Station in West Bengal's Nadia district.

Acting on a complaint filed by the victim’s mother, police arrested Bapan Sheikh. Ranaghat Police District SP Ashish Mijya confirmed that a written complaint had been received from the family, which led to an investigation and the subsequent arrest of the accused. The suspect appeared in court on Sunday.

According to reports, Madhu Khatun had been married to Bapan from the Berpara area for nine years after a love marriage. They have an eight-year-old daughter. Bapan reportedly often complimented Madhu’s facial features, particularly her nose by saying, 'your nose is so beautiful'.

Police reported that while Madhu was sleeping on Friday, Bapan suddenly bit off her nose and swallowed it. When she woke up in severe pain and tried to defend herself, he also bit her finger.

Madhu managed to escape and, accompanied by her mother, filed a formal complaint at Shantipur Police Station. Police arrested Bapan on Saturday and presented him before the Ranaghat court the following day.

Madhu stated that her husband occasionally consumed alcohol and would admire her face and nose, sometimes even threatening to bite it off. She also revealed that he had previously threatened to attack her with acid because of her attractiveness.

Madhu’s mother recounted rushing to her daughter’s home after hearing her screams, where she found blood coming from Madhu’s nose and hands. When she tried to intervene, Bapan allegedly assaulted her as well. The mother expressed regret at not being aware of the abuse earlier and called for strict punishment.
