Kolkata: To mark the first-year anniversary of rape and murder of junior medic of RG Kar hospital and medical college, junior doctor’s front held ‘reclaim the night’ on Friday night.
Talking to the media, parents of the deceased medic said that they are aware that all the documents have been ‘tampered’ but still ‘hopes’ for justice.
“It is an institutional murder. Hospital authorities, health department and even the Chief Minister are involved behind this crime. Former RG Kar Principal Sandip Ghosh and former Tala police station OC Abhijit Mondal are also involved in this crime but they are out on bail,” said the deceased medic’s father.
Notably, the parents of the deceased medic had called for ‘Nabanna Abhiyaan’ on Saturday and to stop the rally, police were seen setting up barricades across places that would lead to the state secretariat.

“No matter what may I will reach Nabanna. The Chief Minister is not in Kolkata then why so many barricades are set up. They (state administration) got afraid. I pledge in my dead daughter’s name I will reach the state secretariat. I want to see the culprits cry and spend sleepless nights just like me,” said the deceased medic’s mother.
Incidentally, the junior doctor’s front had called for a torch rally on Saturday and the Abhaya Manch had called for ‘Kalighat Abhiyaan’ (residence of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee).
Protesting doctors however said that they will hold week long protests for Abhaya.
