Kolkata: Bombing took place during the celebrations after Trinamool Congress (TMC) won the Kaliganj bypoll on Monday.

Notably, the explosion took place while counting was underway.
Taking to X, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee said police will take strict legal action against the culprits.
“I am shocked and deeply saddened at the death of a young girl in an explosion at Barochandgar. My prayers and thoughts are with the family in their hour of grief. Police shall take strong and decisive legal action against the culprits at the earliest,” said Banerjee.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Agnimitra Paul condemning the incident said, “There is no place to hide the grief. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has made this state a place for anti-socials.”
