Jammu: In a big push for infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated key projects, including the Chenab rail bridge. During the inauguration ceremony, PM Modi took a walk on the bridge, built above the Chenab River, with ‘Tiranga’ in hand. The moments captured everyone’s attention amid the launch of a slew of projects.
The video of the Prime Minister waving the national flag at the world’s highest bridge also surfaced online and soon went viral. PM Modi’s gesture was a befitting reply to the Pahalgam attack plotters and it also sends a strong message to Pakistan.
The PM’s walk while holding ‘Tiranga’ reiterated the Indian government’s strong resolve to revive tourism in the Valley, which suffered a major jolt after the cowardly terror attack.
Here Is The Video:
Chenab Bridge is the world’s highest railway arch bridge, which will connect Kashmir with the rest of the country and will ensure all-weather connectivity. Notably, it can withstand earthquakes and also the harshest temperatures during winters, where mercury dips to sub-zero levels.
After the Chenab Railway bridge inauguration, PM Modi also interacted with the engineers and workers who braved all odds of harsh weather and topography to complete the world’s tallest bridge at 359 metres, 35 metres taller than the Eiffel Tower of Paris.
The architectural marvel Chenab Rail Bridge, situated at a height of 359 meters above the river, is the world's highest railway arch bridge. It is a 1,315-metre-long steel arch bridge engineered to withstand seismic and wind conditions up to the speed of 266 km/h. The Defence Research and Development Organization aided in developing the blastproofing of the bridge.
The bridge is part of the 272 km Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project. He also flagged off two sets of Vande Bharat trains between Srinagar and Katra on the USBRL. India's first cable-stayed rail bridge, named named Anji Khad, was also inaugurated.
