A horrific incident unfolded in Kalinjara town of Banswara district on Tuesday morning, where a government school teacher was brutally hacked to death with a sword by her former lover. The attack occurred around 10:30 AM at a bus stand while the victim was waiting for a bus.

The deceased has been identified as Leela Tabiyar (36), a resident of Arthuna, who worked as a second-grade Sanskrit teacher at Government Senior Secondary School in Chhaya Mahuri, Sajjangarh block. According to police, the accused, Mahipal Bhaghora—Leela’s former boyfriend—arrived in an Alto car and, without any altercation, directly stabbed her in the abdomen with a sword.

Immediately after the attack, the accused attempted to flee in his car but, in a panic, crashed into a tree near the bus stand. He abandoned the vehicle and escaped on foot. Bystanders alerted the police, and a team from Kalinjara police station along with Bagidora DSP rushed to the scene. The injured woman was taken to the district hospital via ambulance, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.

Banswara SP Harshvardhan Agrawal stated that a manhunt has been launched based on the suspect’s identity and the car’s registration number recovered from the crime scene. The entire incident was captured on a nearby CCTV camera, aiding the investigation.

The victim’s body has been sent for post-mortem, and the car has been seized. Police have intensified search operations, setting up checkpoints to apprehend the accused. The brutal murder has sent shockwaves through the area, raising serious concerns about women’s safety.
