Agra: A shocking incident has come to light from Uttar Pradesh's Agra. Two minor brothers allegedly snatched a gold chain from a potato trader who was out for a morning walk in a park on Friday. The motive behind the crime was to buy an iPhone.
The stolen chain, valued at ₹10 lakh, was reportedly sold to a goldsmith for ₹2.70 lakh. Acting on the trader’s complaint, police reviewed CCTV footage from the surrounding area and identified the involvement of the two minors.
The victim has been identified as Mahindra Singh. On Friday morning, around 7:25 a.m, Singh was returning from a walk in Zonal Park when two youths on a motorcycle approached from behind, snatched the gold chain from his neck, and fled the scene. Singh tried to run after them and catch them, but he couldn’t.
A video showing the accused being identified during CCTV footage monitoring has surfaced.
Police Nab Accused In 10 Hours
The police traced the bike number and arrested the robbers within 10 hours. One of the accused is a Class 10 student, while the other is in Class 11. Both are siblings and study in the same school.
After committing the robbery, the two accused went to their maternal uncle and informed him that they had a gold chain and needed help selling it to a goldsmith.

The uncle agreed to assist them in exchange for a share in the money. He sold the chain to a goldsmith for ₹1.92 lakh in cash and ₹80,000 through an online transfer. Following the sale, one of the boys purchased an iPhone worth ₹1 lakh. The police are currently searching for the uncle.
