Veteran Congress Leader Narasingha Mishra Slams BJP For Suspending 14 MLAs Ahead Of Odisha Assembly Gherao

Bhubaneswar: Veteran Congress leader and former Odisha Minister Narasingha Mishra on Wednesday condemned the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government for suspending all 14 Congress MLAs from the Assembly.
Mishra, a former leader of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP), accused the BJP of taking a rigid stance on the issue of rising crimes against women— a matter Congress had sought to raise in the Assembly. He criticized the government for neither allowing a discussion on the issue nor agreeing to form a House committee to investigate it.
Calling the suspension "unprecedented," Mishra asserted that such an action had never been taken in the state's history. He further alleged that the government had "added fuel to the fire" just ahead of the Congress’ planned ‘Assembly Gherao’ protest on Thursday.
Warning of intensified agitation, Mishra said the people of Odisha would express their anger, while Congress would take to the streets and escalate its protests in the coming days.
