Despite the start of the new academic session on July 1, the condition of school transport vehicles in Lucknow remains dire, with many vans being old, unfit, and in blatant violation of safety standards. This persistent negligence raises significant concerns about student safety, highlighting a concerning lack of effective oversight.

On Thursday, numerous instances of non-compliant school vehicles were observed across Hazratganj, Ashiana, Mahanagar, and other areas. For example, a school van outside St. Francis School in Hazratganj had a flat rear tire and a worn-out front tire, yet it was still transporting students.

At Mountford School in Mahanagar, vans were found using makeshift seating and lacking essential fire extinguishers, with many even having broken taillights. Near Stella Maris School in Ashiana, several vehicles displayed no driver details, lacked safety grills on windows, or even had missing number plates.
