Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, during a review meeting with the Department of Sports, Youth Welfare, and Provincial Guard Force on Thursday, directed officials to establish a sports college in every division of Uttar Pradesh and speed up the process of constructing a mini sports stadium in each assembly constituency.

The CM instructed officials to ensure that all sports-related construction projects are completed on time and with high quality. He emphasized that reviews should be held regularly at different levels — from ministers to officials — to monitor the progress and make sure development work is finished within deadlines.

The Chief Minister said each sports college should be developed as a “Centre of Excellence” and connected to a sports university to provide international-level facilities to players. He also directed that PRD jawans and Mangal Dals be trained in disaster management and that PRD jawans receive training in traffic rules to assist in traffic control.

CM Yogi highlighted the rapid development of sports infrastructure across Uttar Pradesh, including the building of a State Sports University, sports colleges, and stadiums. He emphasized quality and timely completion of all ongoing projects and ordered regular monitoring—monthly reviews at the ministerial level, every 15 days at the principal secretary level, and weekly reviews by senior officials. Negligence found during reviews must result in accountability for the responsible agencies, he added.

Officials informed the CM that three divisions already have operational sports colleges and construction in three others is underway. He asked for the process to be accelerated in the remaining 12 divisions as well.

The CM emphasized a completely transparent player selection process to nurture new talent and called for promoting a sports culture across the state for youth development. All sports development efforts must follow national and international standards. To strengthen sports activities, he suggested integrating various competitions with MP and MLA sports tournaments.

He also called for organizing sports competitions at the village, block, district, divisional, and state levels to identify hidden talent and prepare them for national and international events. He further instructed to organize sports competitions for every age group in every district.

For the upcoming Sports and Injury Management Center at Guru Gobind Singh Sports College in Lucknow, the CM recommended involving SGPGI or KGMU for expert support. Additionally, he directed the Sports Department to begin recruitment soon for its vacant positions.

Furthermore, the CM directed that PRD volunteers and Mangal Dal members be given disaster management training and entrusted with the role of "Disaster Mitras." The distribution of sports kits to Mangal Dals should be properly monitored, and they should be involved in MP-MLA level sports competitions.

CM Yogi further directed that all ongoing construction projects under the Youth and Provincial Guard Corps Department must be completed on time.
