Lucknow: Farmers in Lucknow organized a "Tiranga" vehicle rally with their tractors on Wednesday to protest the 50% tariff imposed by the United States on Indian products. They also submitted a memorandum addressed to President Droupadi Murmu, demanding the withdrawal of trade agreements with the UK and other nations that they believe harm Indian farmers.
Calls for Farm Support and Loan Waivers
The farmers expressed concern that the CETA and FTA agreements would increase the import of foreign food and genetically modified crops, threatening local agriculture. They called for the government to fix a minimum support price (MSP) for crops, waive farm loans, and stop the harassment of farmers by microfinance companies.

Additionally, the protesters called for an end to the privatization of Uttar Pradesh’s electricity department. Their demands included a waiver of old electricity bills, 300 units of free power for rural areas, and 18 hours of daily power supply. The farmers also demanded the withdrawal of the decision to end the lifespan of old tractors and protested against the merger of schools.
