The CBI arrested the Additional Director and Office Superintendent of CGHS Meerut, along with a private person, for allegedly demanding ₹50 lakh from a hospital group to avoid de-empanelment. They were caught red-handed accepting ₹5 lakh. Searches are underway; investigation continues.

Uttar Pradesh: CBI Nabs CGHS Meerut Officials, Private Individual In ₹50 Lakh Hospital Bribery Case | FPJ

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Additional Director and Office Superintendent, O/o Additional Director, Swasthya Bhawan, CGHS, Meerut and a private person in a bribery case.

About The Case

CBI, registered the Case on 12.08.2025 on the basis of complaint made by Director Operations (Group) of a private Hospital, Meerut, UP against the accused two public servants. The complainant Medical Group runs various hospitals in and around Meerut with different names. It was alleged by the complainant that on 08.07.2025 a Surprise Inspection was conducted by the CGHS Team, Meerut on 02 of its hospitals and thereafter, official notices were served upon both the hospitals highlighting frivolous deficiencies with intention to obtain undue advantage from the hospitals. It was further alleged that the accused demanded a bribe of Rs. 50 lakh for not de-empanelling the hospitals from the list of CGHS empanelled hospitals.

Both the accused public servants had insisted on the delivery of a bribe amount of Rs. 50 lakh at the earliest to avoid de-empanelment of the hospitals. After negotiation, the accused Additional Director, CGHS, Meerut, agreed to accept the part payment of Rs. 5 lakh (1st installment of bribe money of Rs. 50 lakh) on 12.08.2025. 

CBI laid a trap and caught the accused two public servants and a  private person red-handed with the bribe money of Rs. 5 lakh (1st installment of bribe money of Rs. 50 lakh),

Searches are being conducted at the residential premises of the accused.

Investigation is continuing.
