Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has announced that from the 2026-27 academic session, transfers of teachers and principals in aided secondary schools, including high schools and intermediate colleges, will be conducted exclusively online. The decision follows delays in completing the current year’s offline transfer process.
According to an order issued by Additional Chief Secretary for Secondary Education Deepak Kumar, teachers will be able to apply online for transfer to schools in their preferred districts. Details of vacant posts will be uploaded to the department’s website, and applicants may select up to five preferred schools.
Priority will be given to teachers whose spouses serve in the armed or paramilitary forces, those posted in Naxal-affected areas, individuals suffering from serious illnesses such as cancer, couples in government service posted in different districts, and those aged 58 years or above as of March 31. In cases where applicants have identical scores, the elder applicant will be given preference.
The policy also caps transfers at 20% of a school’s total staff. Vacancy data must be uploaded by January 31, 2026, with orders issued through the online system.
