Pilibhit: In a disturbing case of domestic violence from Uttar Pradesh's Pilibhit, a man named Mohammad Yameen was subjected to a brutal assault by his in-laws in what is being described as a "Taliban-style" punishment.

A video of the incident, filmed in Bara Mazila village, surfaced on social media.

The video shows Yameen lying helplessly on the ground while a man, reportedly his father-in-law, dressed in clothes resembling that of a Maulana, beats him mercilessly with a belt. The attacker is also seen pressing his foot against Yameen’s throat as he pleads for mercy.

Trigger Warning: Viewer discretion is advised. The visuals in the following video could be disturbing to some.

The violent act, caught on a mobile phone camera, left viewers horrified. In the video, Yameen is repeatedly struck while begging for the beating to stop. At one point, two more men arrive at the scene. One attempts to take the belt from the main attacker but is denied. The second man starts slapping Yameen multiple times instead of intervening to stop the assault.

According to a report by Amar Ujala, the incident stemmed from ongoing tensions within Yameen’s marriage. He was allegedly battling drug addiction, which had caused repeated disputes with his wife. Sources cited in the report say she had expressed frustration over his behaviour to her family, which may have led to the assault.

The individuals seen in the video, including the main attacker, are believed to be members of Yameen’s wife’s family.

Meanwhile, the police said that assault took place when Yameen visited his in-laws to bring his wife back home, who left him following an argument in April. The police have registered a case against the accused in the video under relevant sections.
