Pilibhit: In a shocking incident, a 28-year-old farmer and his wife were assaulted by a group of five men in Uttar Pradesh’s Pilibhit. The group forcefully entered into the farmer's house on the night of January 17. When his wife intervened to save her husband, the men stripped and molested her, reported The Times of India.
The next morning when the victims went to the nearby police station to lodge a complaint, they allegedly faced harassment by cops. According to the report, the police not only refused to file their complaint but also booked the injured couple for "offering a bribe", reported TOI.
The police reportedly detained the couple for 24 hours. “Police did not enforce legal action against the accused. We were held in a lock-up. Even after seeing us badly hurt, they did not send us for medical tests. We went for the tests on our own later and reports revealed ‘multiple injuries'. CT scan report stated that I had suffered a head injury. We had no other option but to knock on the court's doors,” the farmer told the media house.
