TMC Leader Abhishek Banerjee Warns Of Mass Protest If Bengali Voters' Names Are Deleted

“Those who have sold the Election Commission by saying "Yes SIR", we are warning them. If the names of Bengalis are removed from the voter list, we will gherao the ECI office with one lakh Bengalis. We have already done this during the MGNREGA protests. Despite a court order, they still haven’t released the MGNREGA funds. This is contempt of court,” said Banerjee.

Kolkata: Trinamool Congress (TMC) national secretary Abhishek Banerjee on Friday after returning from the national capital said that if any Bengali speaking voter’s name is deleted from the list, then TMC will protest outside Election Commission of India (ECI) office with one lakh voters of Bengal.

Banerjee further added, “The issue of fake voters is in front of everyone. There is no dearth of such voters. This happened in Varanasi as well as in Karnataka.”

On the other hand, West Bengal Legislative Assembly Speaker Biman Bandhopadhyay questioned that if the people are sent out of the country, then on whom will the central government play politics with?

“You need people if you want to play politics with them. If through SIR people are sent out of the country then there will be no people on whom politics can be played,” added the Speaker.
