Kolkata: A day after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Anurag Thakur claimed that there are ‘suspicious voters’ in Diamond Harbour and questioned Trinamool Congress (TMC) national secretary and MP Abhishek Banerjee for the reason, Banerjee on Thursday had sent evidence of the voters in Diamond Harbour through a pen drive by his representative at Thakur’s residence.
Supporting Banerjee, TMC leader Kunal Ghosh said that the BJP MP ‘didn’t do homework’ before speaking about Diamond Harbour and maligning Banerjee.
“Abhishek Banerjee has proven how to be a national leader. Abhishek Banerjee knows how to speak even better than the Prime Minister. The delegation which went to other countries after ‘Operation Sindoor’, Abhishek had proven how to represent. This is the reason the BJP is shaking in fear. Actually, they can’t digest that Abhishek had won Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha constituency by over seven lakh votes,” said Ghosh.
Ghosh further mentioned that during Covid lockdown, Banerjee had set an example on how to manage the crisis.
“Abhishek was the first one to send food to the people of his constituency. Without doing any homework BJP is trying to malign Abhishek,” further mentioned the TMC leader.
Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari said that the ‘truth’ behind the win of Diamond Harbour constituency will be out soon.
Notably, on August 13, Thakur claimed that there are a total of 2,59,779 suspicious votes in Diamond Harbour and also sought clarification from Banerjee.
