Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal Sharma, Sports Council Chief Receive Bomb Threat Via Email

Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and Sports Council President (IAS) Neeraj K Pawan have received life threats on Thursday. The threats were received in the official Email accounts of the CM and Sports Council.

The police said that the email was sent by an email account of some Divij Prabhakara to the official e-mail IDs of CM Sharma and Pawan. The person also threatened to blow up the SMS stadium, where the fifth match of IPL is scheduled on May 18th. The email was received at 4:12 am on Thursday.

Following this, the security staff were increased for the CM and Pawan. The stadium premises was also thoroughly checked, but the call turned out to be a hoax one as nothing was found there.

It is worth mentioning that SMS stadium is constantly receiving threats of being blown up with a bomb and this was the sixth hoax threat in the last one week.

The person who is sending the threat mail is demanding action in some rape case in a hotel in Hyderabad in 2023.

The mail reads," If the police does not do anything in the case of the rape victim, then we can murder the CM. We will cut him into pieces. We will kill Niraj and chop him into pieces and pack him in a black suitcase. To get justice for the rape victim, we are threatening to blow up the SMS cricket stadium with a bomb, so that the attention of the police is drawn towards this."

The police officials said that the cyber team is working on the issue and is in touch with Hyderabad police as to get details of the rape case mentioned in the email.

Notably, from January 2024 to March this year, CM Sharma received at least four life threats-all from some prisoners of the central jails across the state. The police have arrested all the accused and took action against the jail staff.
